With a harp on her back

Nancy Thym  manages to weave harp playing, songs and stories, in such a fascinating manner that they carry the audience off into an enchanted world. Whether she is telling old Nordic fairytales with music, explaining her many fascinating harps or bringing the world of the “harpies” to life. Predominantly in the 18th and 19th century these young musicians travelled through the countryside with their harps on their backs to earn a living playing the popular songs of their day in the streets, in inns and at parties. The harp girls from the East German town of Eichsfeld regularly crossed the German east-west border until 1961.
